After months of anticipation,
the date of the game had drawn near. We'd scoured the NIT
website, participated in a number of early cadet-training
activities, and were gearing up for the bit event.
Equipment preparation
So, you think you're gonna compete with Team Quiksilver, eh? Here's
what you're up against...

It all starts weeks before... at Microsoft, we check out our power
options.

And what good is the van if you don't have a slick, group-oriented
clue-solving environment!?
Kevin and Scott heroically made sure we'd be VERY well prepared.
New York -- Arrival and Preparation

With no shortage of tools and despite the logistical challenge of travel
to New York,
we had practically rebuilt the van before midnight on Thursday before...

Unusual even for the colorful streets of SOHO...

Lonny, our hired-help (heh heh), preps the power equipment with Scott.

And Kevin fine-tunes the navigation station.
Prep Day 2 -- Friday

Want to win a modern game? Got to road test the vehicle...

and we certainly wouldn't do without TEAM
BRANDING on the outside of the van!
(if you don't get the "hazardous materials" double-reference, click
here.)
GAME ON! -- Saturday
At the Horace Mann school, we gathered our
packets and entered the auditorium after registering. Here's a look
at some of the competition...

Team Purple

Yellow Team

Gang Green

White Team -- they came in second... whew!

Orange Marmalade (I made up the marmalade part. that's what they
make me think of.)
